Mr. Cervantes

Spanish Teacher

El Profe. Cervantes is a Spanish teacher and instructional assistant. He was raised in the heart of Santa Ana. He is a first-generation college graduate from the University of California, Berkeley where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology. He has traveled extensively to various countries and learned from the diverse cultures around the world. Fun fact about Prof. Cervantes has five dogs, a chi-pom, 2 jack-chi, a shih-tzu/boxer/jack-chi, and a little papillon-chihuahua mix.
Ms. Gastelum

English Teacher

Meet Ms. Gastelum! Taking one look at her classroom will immediately show you that she loves plants, literature, and creating an inviting space for her students! She teaches English and Creative Writing at Unity and loves making lesson plans that teach meaningful content in the most engaging ways possible. She is an OC native who you will often find in coffee shops lesson planning or spending time with friends. Some of her life’s greatest joys are found when exploring new places, enjoying delicious food, or spending time with her 1 year old nephew.

Ms. LeGaspe

Science Teacher

Ms. LeGaspe is a first-year teacher here at Unity. She has lived in Southern California for her whole life, attending CSUF to earn a degree in Marine Biology. She has worked in a fruit-fly lab and a chiton lab. She loves to share her experience in college with her students in biology and biomedical innovations. A fun fact about Ms. LeGaspe is she raises goldfish! Her oldest goldfish is 15 years old.
Mr. Maher

Social Studies Teacher

Marcus Maher is the Social Science Teacher at Unity MCHS. Since graduating from California State University, Long Beach with his BA in History and his credential in Social Science he has taught a plethora of courses from AP Human Geography, Psychology, AP United States History, World History to Government and Economics. In Mr. Maher’s class, students get the opportunity to analyze historical documents from around the world and discover what happened in the past for themselves. His classes focus on critical thinking, diversity, and argument development.
Mr. Maher is blessed with his sweet daughter Emma. When he isn’t mentoring your students, he loves spending time with family, watching sports (go Niners!), and people watching.
Mr. Tran

Math Teacher

Mr. Tran is currently the Algebra 2 and Geometry teacher, as well as the PE co-teacher. His goal by the end of the year is for at least 50% of his class to not hate math, and hopefully 25% will fall in love with it. In his free time, he likes to stay active outdoors (hiking, paddle boarding, rock climbing), or play video games (League of Legends, Valorant, and Genshin Impact). His motto is to shoot for the stars, so at least you will land on the moon. This is Mr. Tran's first year at Unity Middle College High, so come by to room 102 to eat lunch or play board games with him!
Mr. Trumbull

Mr. Trumbull is a first year teacher, filled with excitement to be at Unity MCHS! Mr. T., a Chapman University graduate for both undergrad and grad school. While he was at Chapman University during undergrad he was a BFA in studio art major with an emphasis in photography, involved in social groups, involved in charity work and the captain of the water polo team. After undergrad graduation he worked at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, Italy and followed a contemporary art gallery in London. He started his own clothing company where he designed clothing, produced products, designed content, managed the social and coordinated product sales. He also still has an active photography business.
Mr. T is active, energetic, and recently completed a full Ironman and a 30 mile prone paddle from Catalina Island to Newport Beach and works as a water polo coach at Costa Mesa high school.

Although Ms. Salberg is new to our Unity family, she comes to us with over 25 years of diverse teaching and leadership experiences at both the middle and high levels. Ms. Salberg’s robust leadership experience, proven results as principal, commitment to all students, and social emotional learning expertise makes her an excellent fit for our school community.
Ms. Salberg is passionate about ensuring academic and social emotional success for each and every student on our campus. She believes all students can learn, given a positive learning environment, an encouraging community and a supportive family - all of which UNITY exhibits each and every day.
Each morning as she welcomes students to campus, she enjoys a hot coffee and talking to anyone about college/professional football, a sport that she has grown up watching with her father. GO 49ers!

Ms. Torres is both new to Unity Middle College and education. With a passion to create connections and a community of support for faculty and students, she feels right at home with Unity! Coming to Unity with management experience and a corporate background, she is in charge of day to day office operations, recruitment, coordinating school events, and serves as a liaison for our community. When not at Unity, you can find her out and about with her husky Cain, spending time with friends and family, or refurbishing her latest DIY project! Unity students and staff have both welcomed her with open arms and kindness, truly portraying what our school stands for and is proud to be a part of this organization.
